Benefits of Massage

Therapeutic massage is a full body deep tissue massage that focuses on working and treating twenty-three (soft tissue) muscle locations.  Valuable information can be gathered during the massage session that could be beneficial to the dog’s overall well being.

Massage for Conditioning. A massage is very similar to an exercise workout; making it valuable for senior dogs and dogs unable to get regular exercise.  After the first session, your dog may experience some soreness. It’s good to keep in mind we are working with muscles that may not have been working at full function. As with exercise and massage, the tenderness will dissipate as the muscles are worked.

Conditioning massage prepares the dog’s body for activity.  Dogs that participate in field work, agility courses, search & rescue, police work, herding and serve as service dogs all benefit.

Massage for Relaxation.  Therapeutic massage relaxes your dog through touch.  Massage releases tension and relaxes the central nervous system.

Massage for Injury Prevention & Detection.  Massage is used as an aid in preventing injuries and allowing for quicker recovery from workouts.  Since your dog is unable to communicate verbally what hurts or aches and to what degree; massage allows us to gather information about your dog’s health.
